When you think of Maroon 5 right now, you think of pop-rock hits and nothing else, right? Just checking. Because a week after the band’s singer, Adam Levine, caused one of the biggest celebrity scandals of the year, Maroon 5 announced a major Las Vegas residency.
The band will perform 16 shows at the Park MGM’s Dolby Live venue next March, April, July, and August. Fan pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow.
Maroon 5 has nearly a dozen number one hits, including the songs “Moves like Jagger,” This Love,” “She Will Be Loved,” and “Girls Like You” with Cardi B. The band has won Grammy awards for Best New Artist in 2005 and Best Pop Performance, among many other categories. Maroon 5 also performed at the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show.
However, if you Google “Maroon 5” right now, none of that information is likely to come up.
Celebrity Playbook Tossed
According to the celebrity playbook, months of retreat from the public eye are prescribed for the subjects of a scandal. This both conveys the appearance of deep remorse and gives the public time to find another scandal to latch onto.
However, Las Vegas concert residencies change everything. They place tens, sometimes hundreds, of millions of dollars at risk for stakeholders — much of which may not be recoupable in the event of cancellation. In addition, dates at prime concert venues are usually scheduled months before they’re announced.
Maroon 5’s 2023 residency dates are March 24, 25, 29, and 31; April 1, 5, 7, and 8; July 28 and 29; and Aug. 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, and 12. Tickets go on sale to the public on October 3 at 10 a.m. PT through ticketmaster.com.
Fan pre-sale tickets are available starting Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. PT. Members of MGM Rewards, MGM Resorts’ loyalty rewards program, as well as Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers, will receive access to a pre-sale starting Friday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. PT.
Hopefully, Levine is more capable of honoring concert commitments than marital ones.
Let’s Be Adulterous About This
For anyone who just emerged from a cave, Levine was caught last week sexting with several women behind his pregnant’s wife back. (The latest count, according to TMZ, is five.) Instagram model Sumner Stroh, 23, claimed that she not only sexted Levine but that they had a year-long physical affair.
Levine, 43, admitted that his conversations with Stroh “crossed the line” but denied the affair. The publicity prompted other women to share some spicy direct messaging sessions they allegedly shared with Levine.
“I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner,” Levine admitted in a since-deleted Instagram message.
Levine married Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo in 2014. They share two daughters: Dusty Rose, 5, and Gio Grace, 4.
