Austin North, star of the hit Netflix series Outer Banks, was arrested for gross misdemeanor battery earlier this week, after “throwing fists and shoving” three workers in the UMC Hospital in Las Vegas.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, one ER nurse said the 27-year-old actor, with no provocation, “ran towards her and punched her on the left side of her head with his closed right fist” and then “shoved her towards the sink, hitting her back on the sink.”
A second ER nurse added that North “shoved her in the face,” and a phlebotomist claimed that North “shoved him against a table” before he struck the actor with a tray, knocking him down.
Too Far North
North addressed the alleged incident on Thursday via his Instagram account.
I am deeply upset by the events that took place in Las Vegas this past week,” he wrote. “My friend drove me to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack.”
After stating that he tested negative for drugs and alcohol, North continued: “I have battled anxiety on and off for years, and this was the most extreme panic attack I’ve ever had. Going forward, I hope to shed light on this debilitating disorder and send hope to those who have also struggled.”
North maintained that he has “very little memory” of what transpired in the hospital, and that he has “the utmost respect for healthcare workers and hospital staff.”
According to court records, North faces three counts of battery on a protected person. After posting bond, he was released and is due back in court on March 19.
North is known for his role as Topper in the series Outer Banks, which premiered on Netflix in 2020.
