I find it ridiculous that parking fees are not included in the absurd resort fees.

If you live and work in jerkwater USA, taking a vacation in Las Vegas is bragging rights to your friends. you planned ahead and got that cheap flight, you booked your room online and you can’t wait to share all your photos and tales of adventure to every single person you know. oh I got smashed or I got married or I won a jackpot.

The truth is: From the minute you got off the plane, Las Vegas was draining your bank account and there’s a good chance your going home broke or even in debt. Paying for parking doesn’t even cross your mind. only locals or regional players care.

Is paid parking the norm at casinos that are not in the heart of a major downtown district? No. That’s a bad example. I don’t know of a casino in the midwest where you pay for parking. Maybe in St. Louis, where there’s a casino on the fringe of the downtown area. Paying for parking at casinos is not the norm. The strip is not in a downtown district. The land they have to expand upon may not be as plentiful as it was 70 years ago, but this idea that comparing Caesars Palace to downtown Chicago is somehow apples to apples is ridiculous. But we have money to burn, so why not burn it at casinos for parking? I get why fees are necessary when you build arenas, orbs and possibly ballparks on or strip adjacent. But that’s now why the fees started. And downtown Buffalo or Newark ain’t the Las Vegas strip.
